What Can I Actually Put in My Storage Unit?
(The "Can I Keep This?" Guide)At Best West Boat and RV Storage, we love helping you clear the clutter! Whether you’re moving, downsizing, or just need a home for your "big toys," here’s the scoop on what’s welcome and what’s not.
✅ The "Heck Yes!" List
Think of your unit as a second closet (or a giant garage). Most household and business items are perfectly at home here:
- The Basics: Furniture, boxes of clothes, appliances, and that mountain of holiday decorations.
- Business Assets: Excess inventory, office files, and tools.
- The Fun Stuff: If you’re at Best West, you likely know we are the pros for Boats, RVs, and Cars! We have the specialized space your driveway is begging for.
- The "Later" Items: Old textbooks, baby clothes you aren't ready to part with, and that treadmill you promise you'll use next year.
That is a hilarious (and very relatable) addition! Adding a bit of humor about "neighbor dogs" is a great way to show your facility's personality while making the rules clear. Here is the updated "Firm No-No" List with that specific addition:
❌ The "Firm No-No" List
To keep everyone’s belongings safe and the facility smelling fresh (and quiet!), some things just can’t come inside:
Category: Why it's a No-Go
Living Things: No pets or plants. This includes your neighbor's dog that won't stop barking—as much as you might want a break from the noise, he can't stay here!
Flammables: Gasoline, propane tanks, fireworks, or paint thinner. If it can go kaboom, it shouldn't be in the room!
Perishables: No food! Even canned goods can spoil or attract uninvited "roommates" (pests).
Illegal Items: If it’s against the law to own, it’s against the law to store.
Specialty Items: Extremely high-value items like fine art or fur coats are better suited for specialized, climate-controlled vaults.
💡 Pro Tip from the Best West Team:
When in doubt, just ask! We’re here to help you figure out the best way to store your gear. We want to make sure your stuff stays safe, dry, and exactly how you left it.
Note on Vehicles: Since we alson specialize in Boats and RVs, remember that any motorized vehicle or travel trailer must be accompanied by proof of insurance, or if not running, proof of ownership and insurance.
Bottom line:
If it’s clean, dry, legal, and non-living, it’s probably welcome—but when in doubt, just ask! Our team at Best West Boat and RV Storage is always happy to help you store smart and store safely. 😊
